Cliff’s consulting is grounded in more than 40 years of experience working directly with senior executives in the areas of strategic planning, plan execution, executive assessment and leadership development. Cliff’s industry specializations include energy, manufacturing, professional services, health care, and financial services.

Before forming Vantage Associates in 2004, Cliff was Senior Vice President and Managing Executive of Spherion’s Human Capital Consulting Group. He led that organization to become a top tier management consultancy in client relationships, people, processes and profits. In 2001, Cliff was the sole recipient of the National Performance Award – Spherion’s highest honor – for demonstrated excellence in leadership, financial achievement and innovation over multiple years. (Spherion is a Fortune 1000 company with a workforce of over 300,000.)

Prior to Spherion, Cliff worked for the international management consulting firm King, Chapman & Broussard. He served as Managing Principal of the Houston business and was a member of their executive committee. As President of Malibar, Inc., a regional consulting firm, he served as principal negotiator in a $700 million government-to-government natural resources sharing agreement. He has delivered over 200 public presentations on attributes of business planning and executive managerial leadership. Cliff has developed more than 300 strategic business and marketing plans and has consulted with several hundred senior executives on their professional leadership development.

Cliff earned his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University in the Presidential/Key Executive Program, and received the Certified Business Communicator designation from the Business Marketing Association.

Suzanne's professional expertise—grounded in 18 years of coaching and consulting—is working with leaders to achieve greater business results in the areas of leadership, operational planning/execution and team optimization. As a master facilitator and leadership coach,
she utilizes world-class processes and candid communication in her consulting with executives and leadership teams. By focusing on people dynamics as well as strategic planning and execution, Suzanne guides her clients through challenging business transitions to achieve their goals.

Suzanne has coached and consulted in a variety of industries including healthcare, energy, utilities, oil field services, public accounting, banking and law firms. Suzanne has designed and delivered a wide variety of performance improvement consulting engagements to Fortune 500 companies. She has worked with Fortune 100 corporations during both the planning and execution phases of mergers and reorganizations. Suzanne has also consulted with senior management teams competing for multimillion-dollar contracts with NASA and the Department of Defense.

Before becoming a partner at Vantage, Suzanne was the national consulting leader of Spherion's Human Resource Consulting Group. Prior to beginning her consulting career 18 years ago, Suzanne served as senior vice president of operations in the banking industry, as general manager of a manufacturing company, and as national sales manager for a three-company publishing group. In addition to her business and leadership experience, she also draws upon her degree in communications and post-graduate studies in psychology. Suzanne resides in Houston, where she has served on the board of a nonprofit organization, and continues to volunteer in The Texas Medical Center and homeless shelters.

Mike Simmons’ insights are grounded in more than 30 years of operating experience. Mike built his career through effective strategic planning, acquisitions, integration, executive team development and operational excellence. Mike’s industry specializations include: energy services, industrials, private equity and financial services.

At Shawcor, a multi-billion-dollar oil and gas manufacturing and service firm, Mike led the strategic and corporate development efforts that reshaped the company. During his tenure and under his personal leadership, Shawcor completed 12 successful acquisitions, integrations, joint ventures and divestitures. Mike also led the creation and growth of the Integrity Management Group, now a leader in pipeline inspection.

Prior to Shawcor, Mike was CEO of Q Energy and an Operating Partner for Q Investments, a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund based in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike was responsible for a portfolio of private equity investments including Minyards Grocery Stores and i2 Technologies, a public software firm in which he was a director.

In his 20 years at GE, Mike led GE’s Upstream Business, which he grew into GE Oil & Gas’s first $1 billion division. He was also CEO of GE Oil & Gas’s PII Pipeline Solutions business, a global technology-based pipeline integrity service company with over 1,000 employees. Mike held executive roles throughout the U.S. and Europe in energy, finance, real estate and GE’s Pension fund.

Mike earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and received hands-on experience and executive development at GE’s famed Crotonville Learning Center.

Mike has served on the boards of non-profits and public and private companies. He currently is on the board of directors of Zedi Technologies.
